Validity of Navigo Easy Pass in Paris Zone 3

Hi,
My wife and I are planning to travel from Washington DC to Paris in 3 weeks. I am planning to buy a Navigo easy Pass for travel in Paris. There is some confusion whether Choisy-le-Roi station (served by RER C line) is in Zone 2 or Zone 3. If this station is in Zone 3. Can I use the Navigo Easy Pass with t+tickets to travel from Cardinal Lemoine metro in Zone 1 to this Choisy-le-Roi station? Or do I have to buy a separate RER Ticket from Gare d'Austerlitz to Choisy-le-Roi station? I will appreciate if I can get a reply soon. Thanks in advance.

You buy a separate ticket from Cardinal Lemoine to Chiosy le Roi. Cost is 3.20 EUR pp, more than a t+ ticket. If you try to do it it with a t+ ticket, you will be unable to open the exit gate at Choisy le Roi.

Don't use a t+ ticket to get to Austerlitz, then buy a new ticket to Choisy le Roi because you will be paying twice.

Thank you Sam. After receiving your reply, I tried to see (as a test) if I could buy a regular ticket for 3.2 euros on my iphone using the downloaded Bonjour RATP app as well as the Ile de France Mobilites app. It appears what shows up for purchase are only single (t+ tickets) or day tickets which are Navigo passes. Do I have to buy the ticket at the metro station through an agent? Thanks in advance.

You cannot use the RER outside zone 1 with a t+ ticket which is what is on the Easy. You can use it for the metro wherever it goes including occasionally into zone 3. so the answer to your original question is 'no'. You would face a hefty fine on arrival as your Easy would not open the exit gate. You have to buy separate paper tickets for that destination. (or have a day pass on the Easy that includes zone 3).

Tickets are not zoned they are destination specific. Paris is one destination but any stop outside Paris has to have a specific ticket to that stop.

The Navigo Easy is a card (not a pass).

The Navigo Easy card may hold tickets t+, airport bus tickets, or any day pass.

Tickets t+ have nothing to do with zones, other than they may not be used to ride the RER to a station outside Paris (zone 1). You may use the ticket t+ on the bus (other than airport buses), funicular, métro, or tramway. None of these uses is zone restricted. Zones are primarily associated with passes.

If you want to purchase a ticket (single ride) from Paris to Choisy-le-Roi, you purchase a point to point ticket (origine/destination) which is sold in paper format only.

just wanted to let you know that Choisy-le-Roi is in Zone 3, so you’ll need a separate RER ticket from Gare d'Austerlitz if you're traveling from Cardinal Lemoine in Zone 1.

As was explained, buy the ticket at Cardinal Lemoine to avoid wasting a t+ ticket to get to Austerlitz. Just one point-to-point ticket. The point-to-point ticket will open the gate at Austerlitz to get on the RER C, and open the exit gate at Choisy le Roi.
