Beautiful little market town with medieval buildings. With a car it would make a great base for exploring. We couldn't find a place to stay so we moved on but wish we could have spent a couple of nights.

Yes. Two nights in 2005 at a little RS hotel with the market literally steps away. Awesome Panini takeaway kiosk nearby and a little grocer with beautiful fruit. Short walk to bus stop for trip to Pont du Gard. Uzes is a quiet little place but restful and interesting. Few options for nightlife and eating, but made do with picnic fare and takeaway bites - gyro shop or falafel place, I think. Did find places for drinks at night. Mostly local young people out and about town.

Yes and agree with others that it's lovely. I liked it so much I made sure to take my parents there on a return trip. We stayed at a wonderful small place in a village about 10 minutes west of there, called Le Mas d'Oleandre. I don't know if it's still there or owned by the same Dutch couple (they were terrific).

It's also great for going to the Pont du Gard.

I've stayed in Uzes 3 times with a group of friends in a large rental home on the edge of Uzes and loved the town and our landlady/lord. The older part of town is a circular walled area where only residents are allowed to drive their cars - all others park on the outside of the wall and walk in. The square in the center is wonderful, with restaurants and shops. The Saturday morning market, which is held there, is fun too. If you have a car, it's an easy drive to a nearby pottery village or to Pont du Gard or Nimes or Avignon or the Luberon area. Highly recommend!
