Using Here WeGo App for navigation

I'm renting a car for a week to drive around France. I will be driving tons of miles during that week.
Does anyone have experience with "Here WeGo" App in France?
I downloaded the app and tried using it here in Florida (without using any data) and it seemed to have worked.
Good or bed input will be appreciated. Thanks

I use Waze. It´s what many taxis/VTC drivers use in Paris and offers everything you need for the road.

I love HereWeGo, but I have to confess I use it mainly for walking directions in cities. I have however also used it on road trips and found it worked well there, too.

We used it in Provence and the Loire Valley in 2016 and it worked very well, offline so no data usage. I use it at home too all the time. It even beeps when you go over the speed limit!

I've been happy with CoPilot. It works well. You load your maps before the trip, then it gives directions without data. If you miss a turn, it reroutes right away without needing data.

My last trip in May I drove in Ireland. My SIM had unlimited data so I left it on. Ironically, in some more rural areas, CoPilot navigated much better when I turned the data off because the signal was weak to non-existent and the app became slow with data on.

I looked at using Waze but stopped when it demanded (not asked) permission to know my location 24/7 - not just while driving with Waze. That price is too high so I declined. Unlike many consumers, I consider the cost of using "free" apps before agreeing.

lol Brad, Thanks for the input.
When I tried downloading waze, it demanded access to my contacts. Really? Really? No shame?
No thank!

we used Here We Go in Portugal last year and were very happy with it, for both driving around the country and walking around the cities.

I wouldn't worry about Waze accessing contacts, if there's no way around it. After all, I don't know anyone here is security-conscious Israel who doesn't use Waze all the time. Yes, it's a huge data hog. A friend of mine discovered a work-around - once you have the route and are on your way (like 5 minutes), turn off data access and it will continue working - just won't update for current traffic conditions. OTOH, because of the data usage, I didn't use it in France. Instead I used a combination of my Garmin gps device and google maps which doesn't use much data at all and was very helpful for walking directions too.

Here supplies data to Garmin and many auto makers built in navigation units. However, the data may not be very up to date especially for points of interest. I submitted reports on a couple of local businesses that had closed last November and I am informed that the updates will be included in map data “soon”.

Here wego works well in France, off line too, but not all the speed limits are 100% accurate. Best set the speed warning to +0 kph because you can get a fine for +8 kph over the limit eg. at Caen )-:

You can WAZE in Airplane mode -- app doesn't need data for gps :) I tested it on my commute to work a couple weeks ago (planning to use WAZE as a back-up if needed on our trip) and it worked perfectly with no data!
