I use Amazon for too many things in the US. How do I use it in France?
Thanks for your help.
Anne
Use their France site:
https://www.amazon.fr
Of course it will be in French.
What do you want to use it for?
I'm pretty sure a U.S. Amazon Prime account, for example, would not be recognized in France -- that would include videos.
You might be able to get around that by using a virtual private network connection to make simulate a U.S.-based internet address. Or you might not. I don't know -- I haven't tried with Amazon.
Actually, I was able to download and stream Amazon Prime content in France. I couldn't access TV shows or " movie theater" content due to licensing issues, but could access original Amazon content. It was so nice to be able to watch something besides the talking heads on CNN and BBC, which is about all you get in English on French TV.
On TV, France 24 English is also a choice for English speakers. There is also a good website.
Thank you all for your input!
Très gentil. Maintenant je pourrai mieux me débrouiller.
Do you want to purchase items or just view the movies/music? For the media, you can use a US-based VPN like NordVPN to access the content without restriction.
If you are purchasing things, you can use your normal account. Your Prime benefits won't apply but you can purchase items and have them delivered to a point de relais near where you are staying. Many items will have free shipping after a 25E minimum.
Amazon detects VPN usage so you won't be able to access your US based Prime Video however you can watch videos licensed for the country you're in.
You can also use your Amazon account to make purchases and have them delivered locally. As long as you're not using a VPN Amazon will detect your location and show results for products accordingly. I've purchased items in Spain and the US using my Amazon account.
I'm here in Paris and ran out of ebooks so I just logged onto Amazon and downloaded thru hotel wifi 2 ebooks....email from Amazon came thru as usual thanking me for the purchase.
