We will be returning to the US from CDG airport in France on January 3, 2022. We understand the US is now requiring a Covid test within 24 hours to return back to the US. Does anyone know if there are Covid testing sites at CDG airport with immediate results? Thank you
There was in Terminal 2A yesterday. We flew American yesterday and did one of the at home tests Tuesday. We bought them thru a link on American Airline's website which is thru Emed. I believe most US carriers accept them. My brother flew United yesterday and it worked. You get your results in 15 minutes and it is super easy.
Here is the language from the White House website:
Strengthening global pre-departure testing protocols: Early next week,
the United States will tighten pre-departure testing protocols by
requiring all inbound international travelers to test within one day
of departure globally, regardless of nationality or vaccination
status. This tighter testing timeline provides an added degree of
public health protection as scientists continue to assess the Omicron
variant.
It is notable that testing should be done within one day (doesn't say 24 hours) of departure. It also doesn't say anything about results. Here in Austria, there is no place that will guarantee a PCR test result within one day, but then again this guidance doesn't even specify what test is required. I think we all know by now that Antigen tests are a joke.
It is very easy to get a 15 minute turn around COVID test in Paris; I would do it the day before rather than counting on finding it at the airport. What if there is a huge line and you can't get it done to check in?
but then again this guidance doesn't even specify what test is
required.
Full details continue to be found on the CDC website:

Certain rapid and self-tests are still accepted for entry into the US.
The only difference with what the U.S. has been requiring if travelers since January 2020 is that the test now has to be done the day prior to your flight, rather than within the three days before.
The CDC in its FAQ explains very clearly that the timeframe is specifically NOT 24 hours — it is the day prior. Check the link above.
to be clear, the US has ALWAYS required a covid test for American passport holders, vaccinated, or not, to come back.
