Updating Question: St Remy or Arles Markets for Quality Crafts?

Hello.

We will be in both Arles and St Remy in early-mid June. The plan was to visit the craft market in StR at night, but it does not begin until June 24 - we will miss it. An old post on the topic is from 2023 and now closed to posting, so an update, please.

For quality, locally made crafts, which market would you recommend? We can attend either on Wednesday morning (taking public transport or a taxi, if needed).

Thanks very much.

I was in both cities spring 2025 and I spent a month in Provence and basically going out to every town that I could on their Market day. That said if you are unable to go to a market there are plenty(PLENTY) of shops that sell craft. I'm not talking the same souvenirs that every shop will have I am talking nice, different, unique type pieces.

The word craft to me conjures up something that maybe you would like to create yourself. What I've done is bought antique lace and then came home and hand sewed it onto a pillowcase. I've bought different types of ribbon and put it on hats as a band. I've bought buttons and put it on a hat as a band or even on a favorite jacket removing the buttons that came with it. I've bought antique pillow cases, I've bought ceramic flowers and use them either in a vase in the house or plant them in a pot in my garden. I have become a great fan of consumables- - so that at these markets I buy items that I can eat while on my trip and some that are easy enough to pack and bring home, except meats. Enjoy your trip!
