Updated Itinerary - Amsterdam to France

We have decided to cut the Reims, Verdun, Eparney, Nancy stop from our trip. This is the new plan: Amsterdam (2 nights - Keukenhof and drive from Lisse to Leiden); flight to Strasbourg or Basel/stay in Colmar ( 3 nights); train to Paris ( 7 nights); train or rental car to Bayeux ( 3 nights), train to Amsterdam - (3 nights). I have booked Airbnb's in all areas except Amsterdam. My husband has been there several times on business trips. He likes Rembrantplein and the hotel that he has stayed at before has a reasonable rate. We already have round trip plane tickets to Amsterdam from Houston.

I am stressing out a bit about the train to Normandy and back to Paris for our return to Amsterdam. It appears to have quite a few connections. I have plantar fasciitis pain in my left foot and walking has been difficult. I hope it will be resolved, but can't be sure of that. It seems that a rental car may require a little less walking. Maybe we could rent a car at Gare du Nord in Paris where we could return it and get a direct connection to Amsterdam. Any thoughts to make this a little less stressful?

Rent the car, but seeing the beaches of Normandy and old towns Bayeaux and Amsterdam involves a lot of walking too in some places on cobble stones

A great way to make it less stressful is to not rent a car in central Paris. From Bayeux your train to Paris will take you to Gare Saint-Lazare, which is not too far from Gare du Nord. If you don't feel like taking the RER, take a taxi between the stations in Paris.

Are you talking multiple train connections between Paris & Bayeux? You should be able to get a direct train between the two. I am not sure what website you are using, but trainline.eu has always been easiest for me to use when I want to search for schedules. In Paris, your departure station would be Gare St. Lazare.

Have you considered flying from Paris to Amsterdam? That way you could drive from Normandy to CDG, where you’ll have an easy rental car return.
