Update on Air France labor issues

We've been watching this closely as our date in April to fly to Paris was impacted by the strike. With our May return date looming I've been watching the banner at the AF webite daily. This morning the banner was gone BUT in searching for information I discovered that AF is polling their employees April 26 until May 4 at 6pm about the most recent offer. http://corporate.airfrance.com/en/press-release/air-france-staff-consultation I think we are ok since our flight falls within this time period while the "consultation" is going on but all bets are off for after 6pm on May 4. We should be in the air at about that time...

You should still be pro-active during this time. Things change daily and you should contact your desk agent.

I am sure that labor relations work differently in various places, but it seems somewhat unimportant to me that Air France is polling its employees. The decision to strike or not is made by the union.

Air France unions have called 4 strike dates in May. May 3, 4, 7, 8

Good Luck Mona
My flight from Vancouver to Paris is May 7th so I am affected - perhaps!
I called AF and they said they would know what flights are cancelled 2- 3 days beforehand and if mine is cancelled they would re-imburse (which I do not want as I have planned this trip for 6 months and have plans in Paris and the UK) or they would find me seat on other date/airline - with no cost.
They did says that Long-haul flights would be the last to be affected so here's hoping

They said the same to me. But I don't know what to do. I have very little flexibility with work, baby sitting etc. I can move my ticket to the 6th for free or wait until the 8th and see what happens. But if they strike I am kinda screwed. Any ideas?

I think I lucked out - reading more closely it says if your ticket is air france but operated by another airline you are NOT affected. Luckily mine is operated by Delta. I will be calling to confirm that....jeez having a heartattack all morning

We rebooked our May 4th AF flight with Delta today. We called the US number (800) for AF and asked for the AF reissuing agent. We had looked up the flight we wanted to take and were able to get them to book us on Delta for May 4th. We asked for a specific flight number and got it. We too didn't want to wait to see if our flight was cancelled at the last minute. We need to be home on May 4th.

Don’t wait if your flight is on Air France metal. You are ok with an AF ticket on Delta metal. Mona has just shown you what to do. My son’s Paris to US flight was canceled, so it does happen.

This information is on the AF strike page. We called the US number for AF rather than the do it yourself option they list.

If you have a valid Air France ticket, issued on or before 26 April, for a flight operated by Air France or Joon on 03, 04, 07 or 08 May, you can anticipate or postpone your trip between 30 April and 27 May 2018*.

  • We recommend you to avoid a rebook on another day impacted by the strike.

Save time by changing your booking directly online, in the "Your reservations" section of the website or in the mobile app. You can change your booking at no extra cost for the same travel cabin.

A voucher valid for one year on Air France, Joon, KLM or HOP flights! will be given to you if you prefer to postpone your trip beyond 27 May 2018, change destination or departure city, or cancel your trip. This voucher is not refundable.

If someone is successful using the online rebooking for an upcoming flight May 3-4,7-8 please report back here. Sorry but I can't get the above four AF paragraphs to display properly behind the " line.

I called Air France- they told me even though the website states May 3,4 and 7,8- they were told the strike will be from May 3 thru May 9, 2018- I switched my parents to Delta as I cannot change their other plans nor do they want a refund- if you wait to hear you may not be able to get another flight for days- why chance it
