We are fully vaccinated but we have a friend who wants to travel to France in the late fall who is not vaccinated. Does anyone know the restrictions for current times? He will also be looking at Italy as well. I have no idea so couldn't help him.
Vaccine not needed right now. Things could change by then? Doubt it though.
France no longer -- as of August 1 -- has any requirements related to Covid for foreigners who wish to enter.
Thanks all. Will pass this on!
In France have they eliminated the requirement to self quarantine for 5 days if you test positive for covid ?
Correct, you don't have the isolate when you arrive. However, if you get covid while in France...
From https://www.gouvernement.fr/info-coronavirus
However, after 5 days, the positive person can leave isolation on two conditions:
She performs an antigen or RT-PCR test and it is negative;
She has had no clinical signs of SARS-CoV-2 infection for 48 hours.If the test carried out is positive or if the person does not carry out a test, his isolation is maintained at 7 days. She does not carry out a second test on D7.
So yes, you can leave isolation after 5 days, but only if you meet one of the two above criteria.
If you care for your friend, perhaps you should suggest that the unvaxxed really shouldn't fly anywhere?
I went to France in early June. I only had one shot of the J&J vaccine (no boosters), which apparently the French do not recognize. I had to show a negative test before flying, but that was all. And I understand even this requirement has expired.
oy Phred - of course we care about our friend, but it's not our call. As mentioned, we were simply seeking information. As a grown adult, those are decisions only he can make.
