We’re planning a trip to Paris next April (2027). We tried to reserve three separate private places through Booking.com, and each time the request was denied or it expired without a response from the owner. All three said the they were available on the given dates. Are we trying to reserve too far out (7 months)?
I’ve never had that happen. I do have some Booking.com reservations for late Summer 2027, so the date shouldn’t be the reason.
”each time the request was denied or it expired”
Can you explain in different words? The reservations are made & there’s no “denied or expiration” step.
Booking.com sends our reservation request to the owner and gives them 24 hours to reply. If no response from the owner, Booking sends the following text: Your booking request has expired. This happened twice. The frustrating part is, if I go online now, those two places will still show our dates as available.
I have been with Booking.com for years and have made many reservations sometimes over 7 months out.
What do you mean by private places? Can you copy and paste the messages that you have been receiving?
I have only booked hotels through Booking.
I assume you're trying to rent an apartment, not book a hotel room? If so, you're dealing with individual owners, and it may just be they're actually booked up and have not updated the Booking.com dates, or they're just not very responsive. That might make me hesitate to book them in the first place. And seven months ahead is not too early. There are other apartment rental companies in Paris, do a quick forum search and you'll get plenty of ideas.
I agree with CL and will add...if you are worried, go ahead and book cancellable hotels while you continue to look for an apartment.
How many days will you be in Paris?
In Paris it could be a result of the crackdown on rules for short term rentals. Owners may be hesitant to commit.
