Union Pay accepted ATM's in Paris?

My husband and I live in Shanghai, China and our local ATM card operates on the Union Pay network. Which ATM's/cash points accept Union Pay cards?

Thank you for your help!

Are you sure the name of the network is Union Pay ??? Or just the name of the credit card? The most common networks are Plus and Cirrus. Never heard of a Union Pay network. If your card is not list for Plus or Cirrus then I doubt if the card will work

I had contacted my bank before a trip to Ireland last summer about Union Pay ATM's and unfortunately, their information was completely wrong, which almost ruined our holiday! As a consequence, I don't trust their knowledge of European banking networks-hence this post! And yes, Union Pay is a banking network, the largest in China and consequently, one of the largest in the world.

Union Pay is a China-based financial network- think of it as that country's version of Cirrus. You will see their logo and card acceptance in scattered locations where there are either a lot of Chinese travelers or an area wants to draw Chinese travelers. (I've seen their decal on shop windows in a few places in Florida) Union Pay's web site seems to have an ATM locator on it- I suspect you'll find it easier to find one in parts of Paris where the Chinese tour groups often roam but less so in countryside areas.

LCL and Société Générale are the major Bank ATMs that should work with Union Pay in France. It should expand to much more through 2019 after a recent agreement between CUP and Groupement des Cartes Bancaires.

Nowadays the important thing is the logo(s) on your card. If it has either a Visa or MasterCard logo on it, it will work at virtually any ATM in Europe. PLUS and Cirrus are networks that have been superseded by the credit card logos. If your card has them, they can also be used to identify which ATM's will accept your card.

Does your card have a magnetic stripe or chip in it? In the old days, the cards with only magnetic stripes were easy to duplicate and use for fraudulent transactions. With just the magnetic stripe, we had to call the bank to tell them our travel plans so our unusual transactions wouldn't be flagged as potential fraud. With the chip we no longer need to call the bank ahead of time because the card isn't easy to duplicate.

Union Pay is the Chinese equivalent of Visa or MasterCard. That is the logo on it. They have an agreement with Discover for credit acceptance and the PULSE regional network for debit in the US. Don't know about Europe.
