Unable to crest SNCF account

I've tried 6-7 times over the course of several days - but every time I input my information and click Create Account, I get an error message telling me to try again later

Has anyone had this issue?

I'll probably have to call them, but I thought I'd ask just in case anyone had this issue and resolved it

**Someone said they had a similar issue, and she thinks it stemmed from her not being in France when she tried to create the account - she was in the UK, with a UK IP address

If that is the case (I’m in the U.S, and before heading to France, I’ll be in the UK…), then does that mean I won’t be able to buy tickets on-line, in advance?

EDIT: I’m having issues with the app

Thanks !

Are you using the website or the app? If you have been using the website, try downloading the app to your phone and see if you can buy tickets that way.

I had no problem using the app from the U.S., but I have not tried it recently.

This past spring I used the website to buy tickets while in the US before going to France. I also found the app very user friendly and helpful with tickets/qr codes being right in the app.

No problems to report - I used the app extensively over the last 6 months, the website also, but somewhat less than the app. I definitely bought tickets in advance for the distance trains as they became available, even set alerts for a couple routes. I use an iPhone.

Have you tried turning off your phone, turning it back on, then trying to create an account?

Laura, the app…

CL, I’m using the app…or trying to, so I don’t think any of those would be solutions?

Thank you both!

KD, I guess if I can’t use the app, I’ll need to use the website when the time comes

Thanks!

ORD, I believe I have shut the phone off after the first few times I tried it…

I guess at least I can use the website if I’m unable to create an account

Thanks!

If you can create an account on the website, you can use that account on the app just by logging in. I typically create accounts on the web because it's easier to type on the laptop than the phone. I don't remember if that is what I did for SNCF or not, but I suspect that was my procedure. (You may have tried that - I may be misinterpreting your comments above - apologies if that's the case!)

Nope, I can’t even get past my birth date in trying to create an account on the website

I put in my date, but when I try to put in the month (it’s DD/MM/YYYY), nope

Ex…I put in 24, then I type 09, but after I type 0, the curser jumps back to before 24, so I can’t complete the birthdate

I guess I’ll try contacting them

If nothing works, I won’t be able to buy tickets?

I’d try turning off wifi on your phone and doing it through the phone network just in case there is something about your IP address that it doesn’t like. If that doesn’t work, I’d go with Trainline. Trainline charges a small surcharge but it is easy to use. I used to use them pre-pandemic for SNCF tickets because the SNCF website was always wonky. I was amazed in 2023 when I was able to buy tickets using the SNCF app.

One more possibility would be to try it next week. It is possible that there is a bug and everyone is on holiday so they’ve been slow to resolve the issue … (30+ years in I.T. … it happens)

Kim & Laura, thanks!

Fortunately I have a lot of time to try and figure it out. I contacted them via What’s App, and hopefully they will respond soon

Laura, that’s a good idea - I’m going to try!

Thanks for posting the fix. I'm glad everything worked out for you! Tech is just great - except when it isn't!!

ORD, right?

I never would have figured it out - I know just so much about tech, and it’s not a lot…..and that’s where it ends, lol
