Uber from CDG for 5

Hello,
We are flying into the Charles de Gaulle airport on Sunday. We are a family of 5 (2 adults, 3 kids) and will be traveling with 5 carry on bags. How easy is it get an Uber that could fit us all and take us to our hotel in La Marais?

Walk to the very nearby official cab line where an official cab that can use the reserved cab/bus lanes will cost you 61.50 to a hotel in the Marais. The dispatcher will call up a van cab if none is at hand when you arrive. Avoid anyone who asks 'do you need a taxi' -- those are all crooks. Usually there are literally footprints on the floor that lead you to the official queue. the fixed fare is 56 and the fifth person costs 5.50.

You may wish to book an uber or bolt back to the airport but it is not very convenient going from the airport to town. I always use a G7 cab back as they are totally reliable but some people prefer a bolt or uber for that.

and it is 'le', not 'la' Marais.

Exactly what Janet said.

Taxis can use the bus lanes, which car services such as Uber and Bolt cannot. It can take ages to get into Paris if there's traffic, which there often is. Plus, it's a good distance to walk from the terminal to get to your Uber. The taxi rank is just outside baggage claim.

Exactly as both of the above say. The absolute best way to do it.

Get in the official taxi line for the fixed rate ride from CDG to your hotel. For any other time, use the G7 Paris taxi app; which is very user friendly (and similar to the uber app in how you use it.)

I agree with Janet and Happy. Btw, a G7 is an official taxi that works like an Uber: you can reserve it in advance. It has an app just like Uber, BUT G7 can use the bus lanes which have less traffic and are faster. We take a regular taxi from CDG into Paris from the well-managed taxi rank, but we reserve a G7 to return to CDG @3-4 days in advance using the app on our Android phone (Apple also has the app). G7 has always arrived @ 5 minutes early and texts that it has arrived! Below is the website:

Personally, I don't understand why anyone would choose to not use the taxi to/from the airport. Any other car service seems like throwing your money and time away.

We keep saying this over and over - take a taxi between Paris and the airports. The fares are fixed, taxis are plentiful, and you have all of the special access granted only to taxis.

I suppose because for most Americans taxis are not an every day affair, and we have become used to Lyft and Uber. Takes a trip or two to realize taxis are ubiquitous and extraordinary easy to use in most European large cities, especially Paris. One of our party pulled up lame in Paris earlier this month and we defaulted to G7 rather than the Metro because of steps and to reduce walking a bit.. Extremely easy, never waited more than 3 minutes. We (group of 4) with bags took a van/taxi back to CDG on departure from Rue Cler, trip was less than one hour on a Saturday morning. Also used a taxi from Versailles to Rue Cler, think it was 54 Euro. Recommended.

Echoing the above based on “on the ground experience” in April.
Walk to the official taxi queue at the airport - do NOT stop / engage with anyone within the airport offering a ride. This is easily found - English signs direct you to the queue. At the taxi queue, they will place you in a vehicle/van that will accomodate your needs for a flat rate based on left bank/right bank location.
Returning to the airport, about 2 days ahead, schedule your return via the G7 app. You can configure your ride and order your ride for a specific time (and change it twice like I did when the airline texts you that your flight time has changed).

Thanks everyone. Glad to know it is not hard to get a taxi that can accommodate 5 with bags.

"Glad to know it is not hard to get a taxi that can accommodate 5 with bags."

And don't fret when you get to the head of the taxi line and you just see 5 or 6 regular-sized taxis loading. There is a huge corral area where taxis including bigger vans are waiting not far from the actual pick up area. The line manager will call one up for your group and you will likely asked to stand to the side of the line to wait.

In CDG terminals 1 and 2 there are diagrams of feet on the floor saying “taxi” for you to follow. My husband wanted to use Uber for the ride from CDG but he couldn’t get enough cell reception to make it work. We’ve usually used a G7 for our return trip but he wanted to book an Uber and it worked out OK. The ride was 5 min.early for an 8:30 pick-up time (12:00 flight) and he got us there in 40 min.
