Uber, Bolt, or G7 in Paris

I’ve got to move to near the Parc de la Villette area from Montparnasse in another several hours. Which would be better instead of a taxi? Uber, Bolt, G7 or Freehold?

Well, I've only used G7. I think the folks that live in Paris often use Bolt over Uber but not 100% sure.

Do you have the G7 downloaded?

I’ve got all three downloaded. I don’t know which will show really show up. I suppose all three are prepaid in advance. At CDG there was a queue for taxis at a fixed rate.

I've never had a problem with G7 showing up. If you book ahead it will be a charge but I don't mind that.

Well, Uber has stood me up twice, and G7’s never stood me up at all in Paris, so I’m sticking to G7 from now on. And they have the advantage of using the bus lines, while Uber can’t, so it can cut down on some traffic depending on where you go

The problem is that I can’t create a G7 account because they require code and confirmation from my smartphone that was stolen a week ago. That’s awful that Uber stood a traveler up twice.

la Villette to Montparnasse is a fairly long ride so I am confident that an Uber driver will accept it. They tend to reject shorter, cheaper rides.

I've used the G7 app plenty of times and never had a problem. Haven't tried Uber in Paris, though.

I downloaded G7 but don’t know if I should use my home cell phone number in the US to create the account or the Orange SIM local Paris number. Please advise. Thanks.

KY, I think you want to use the number where they could call you in Paris if there was a change or question. I just get an international calling plan so no experience with a SIM card, but I'd think that would be the number for them to contact you. Your US number will be disabled while you have the SIM card in.

G7 is quickest as they can drive on the bus lanes but they are more expensive. They charge standard taxi fares so typically the most expensive depending on the time of day. Bolt is cheaper than Uber but service is not as good.

I had no problem using uber for one ride in January. It was a very short ride at night.
