Two to Three Nights in Beaune.

I am planning this October to include Beaune as a 2 to 3 night stop. I plan on driving during this leg of our trip.

Any personal experience with accommodations and / or dining ?? Recommendations regarding vineyards would be appreciated as well...

Any advice would be greatly appreciated, including considering a different locale to stay while in the Burgundy region.

Many Thanks !!

www.hotel-remparts-beaune.com Hotel Des Remparts, Beaune France This is the web site for the hotel we stayed in, when I went on the 14 day Best of Europe tour. Very nice hotel and right in the center of town. Plenty of restaurants and tons of shops and a very cute little town. We were only there one night but I would stay 2-3 days if I could there. Nice shops, cute streets and very pleasant and a nice relaxing, charming town to visit. That is all I can tell you. But I would stay that this hotel on my own. Have a lovely time.

Beaune is a fine base if you have a car, which is a good idea.

Vinyards an embarrassment of riches. I especially enjoyed the tasting lunch in Aloxe-Corton.

Speaking of wine, be sure to try the whites from the Chablis region. Not necessary to go to Chablis, but you could.

We stayed at the Best Western right outside the ring road. Beaune is fairly small and it was an easy walk to the town center with plenty of restaurants and cafes. Our room at the BW was charming with exposed beams, etc., but don't park in their garage. It is very tight. There are open lots close by and it takes less than 15 minutes to drive around the one-way ring road. Don't miss the Hotel Dieu and the Marche du Vin.

In October 2013 we spent the night at the Hotel De France (which is listed as the Hotel De France Logis on TripAdvisor). It's out on the edge of town across from the train station and about a 10 to 15 minute walk from the town center. We enjoyed the stay. The people who run it are very friendly and speak excellent English. They have a very good restaurant which saves you from a lot of searching. Free parking is readily available in the area.

The Hotel de France mentioned above is a member of Logis de France, an association of small family-run hotels all over France. The owner is often a chef and provides excellent meals in the hotel restaurant. Go to the Logis de France website for hotel names in whichever part of France is on your agenda. We have never been disappointed. An added advantage .... There is usually on-site parking at no extra charge.

Here is another vote for Hotel Des Remparts. Everything in the town worth seeing / doing is within easy walking distance. Great market day on Saturday. Ate at Le Conty and had really good inexpensive lunch. La Grilladine is very good for dinner. TC
