Hi ! We have two nights to take a train ride and stay somewhere outside Paris in Mid March. Realizing the coast is too far - I've looked at Strasbourg area or Loire Valley (I could be missing something!) Does anyone have any recommendations for a charming town or fun experiences outside of Paris? (No Disney or theme parks, I'm not sure they will be into D-Day History either) Thank you!
Rick used to have a chapter dealing with kiddie travel, I bet Fodors and Frommers have similar.
In fact certain locations warrant an entire book about the subject.
I liked Strasbourg but not sure there's much there for kids except taking the boat ride through the locks. The Loire is lots of castles.
If the kids like horses (and who doesn’t like horses!), Chantilly might be a good bet.
Go to Nantes and let them ride the elephant and ride the marine carousel.

My granddaughter who was 12 at the time said it was the best day of her life. If you do decide on this be sure you choose a day when the elephant is walking and the carousel is open to ride, not just observe. March would be off season, so this would be particularly important to time right.
