Tuesday, May 2 travel disruptions & overnight in Paris

We expect to arrive at Charles de Gaulle on Tuesday, May 2 around 10:30 AM. From there we will take a taxi to Gare saint-lazarre where we have booked tickets to Rouen, departing at 2 PM. We booked these tickets prior to AA changing our arrival time so we may not get there in time for our train. I imagine that our train might be canceled in any case. So my question is, if we cannot get to Rouen the same day, where should we stay for one night in Paris? I imagine somewhere near the train station is best for travel. But I have no experience with this area of Paris so I'm hoping for some advice for finding a comfortable, inexpensive hotel nearby. Also any advice about missing our train and still managing to get to Rouen that same day would be much appreciated. It would be really good if we did not lose our 1st night's lodging fee as well as our train fee due to protests/travel disruptions on top of American's flight change. But, c'est la vie!

Have you read something that leads you to believe there will be strikes on May 2? I looked at the C’est la Grève website and don’t yet see anything listed.

I haven't heard of any strikes on May 2nd as of yet.

Even if you don't make the train you currently have reserved (due to the airport arrival time change), there are plenty of trains every day from Paris to Rouen, so there isn't any reason to think you wouldn't make it to Rouen that day.

Thanks so much Pam and Kim. The only thing that leads me to believe there may be a strike on May 2 is that I understand there is a huge huge strike scheduled for May 1 and I was thinking it might carry over. That, and the fact that the strikes seem to be ongoing. But I am reassured from your messages that it does not look likely. Also reassuring, Kim was your message about the number of trains going to Rouen that day. I knew there were several but I guess I'm just being nervous! I will definitely check the C’est la Grève website before leaving the US. Thanks again to you both.
