Tuesday in Dijon: should have checked museum opening hours and days!

Excited to learn The Mourners are housed at Le Musee de Beaux Arts, I contacted our hosts in Loire Valley and Lyon to amend our lodging for 2 rather than three nights to insert 2 nights in Dijon. Then I researched the museum hours and days to learn it is closed on Tuesday, as are other major sites in Dijon. I should have known better!
So, we welcome your ideas including condemnation of my foolishness.
Decisions, decisions!

1-beg our hosts in Loire Valley and Lyon to revert back to original 3 days stay in both locations?

Or

2-retain revised itinerary

Also, do you recommend we return rental car in Paris after our explorations of the Loire Valley and train to Dijon and Lyon? OR Keep the car and drive to Dijon, allowing us to explore the area on Tuesday (Beaune or Cluny or Vezelay) and visit museum Wednesday morning before driving on to Lyon and return car there?
Maybe I have made a wonderful revision. Looking forward to you suggestions. Thank you

Been there, done that, missed it. I could have gone Monday but figured it would be closed so planned for Tuesday. :-(

I'd probably try to adjust your stay if it's possible.
