trouble puchasing online Eiffel Tower tickets

I am trying to purchase advance tickets to go to the top of the Eiffel Tower in August through tour-Eiffel.fr. Tickets go on sale at 8:30 am Paris time 3 months prior. At 8:50 am Paris time, the only reservation time available was at 9:00 am, I find it hard to believe that 20 minutes after tickets were available every time slot was sold out, even at 11 pm, 12 am. Has anyone else had this problem? Thanks.

If you would read through the previous Eiffel Tower posts in this forum you would know that you are wrong in finding it hard to believe the online tickets are all sold out. That's the norm...not the exception.

That's the really sad thing about this site after the redesign... the search function just doesn't work like it used to. I searched on "eiffel tower tickets" and came up with ZERO forum topics.

Thanks for the responses. I did not find any forums when I searched Eiffel Tower either. The only one I found on the Rick Steves site was through a google search when trying to find other options for purchasing tickets for the Eiffel Tower. That forum discussed if tickets are necessary, not that they are difficult to purchase online. Although 2 or 3 said they couldn't get tickets online, but some were trying close to their vacation dates.

I finally found a forum where people were discussing having trouble purchasing Eiffel Tower summit tickets online. Glad I'm not the only one. I think I will just wait in line.

You can always climb the stairs too - the line will be shorter. One nice thing about not having advance tickets is that you can go when the weather is nice. It would be a bummer to have tickets on a rainy/cloudy day.

Or you can buy tickets to second level.. the ticket function is set to "tickets to summit" , change it and try for tickets to second level. Once on second level you can stand in line for top level if you wish but really view is great from second level.

Good idea trying to buy tickets to the 2nd floor and then going to the summit. I will give that a try. Thanks.

Well, I think buying tickets to the 2nd level could work, as there were tickets left for the days I wanted, however they were for 11 pm. If I tried to get tickets earlier I may have been able to get them. Thanks again for the suggestion. I may try for a day later in our stay.

Believe it. Time slots are mostly gone within minutes. We've posted on this previously. You need to be online 90 days out at 11:30pm the night before or at 2:30am on the day of. You have to bite the bullet on this one. Or, you can stand in line at the ticket booth and get tickets that way. Still, you'll be in 4 lines. Two going up (bottom and mid-tower) and two coming back down (top and mid-tower). You'll invest a few hours on this one but the views from up top are really memorable.

I was online at 2:50 am when I tried the first time and the tickets were all sold out except 9 am. My kids want to go up at night, so the lines may not be as long then. I have been to the top years ago on a visit in July. We went later in the day and didn't have to wait in line too long.
