My boyfriend and I are arriving in Barcelona in early October and will be traveling from there along the coast to Nice. We'll be flying home from Nice 10 days later. We are planning to rent a car once we cross the France/Spain border. I am looking for itinerary ideas for the time we spend along the French coast. Also, I would appreciate feedback on driving conditions in that area.
My friend is comfortable driving a stick shift.
Thanks in advance.
What are you interested in sering and doing? You could easily spend all your time in Catalunya, on the Spanish side of the border, and there are dozens of worthwhile stops in that stretch of France
Driving conditions will be easy, except in the major cities. GPS or a smart phone data plan will be very useful once you leave the tollway (make sure you have a chip card or plenty of coinage/cash). Pick up your car just across the border or in Perpignan. You can go to Coulliore, Carcasonne, Montpellier, Set, Nimes/Pont du Gard, Avignon, Arles, St. Remy, Cassis, Marseilles, Aix, Thoronet, St. Tropez, St Paul-de-Vence/Vence/Tourettes-sur-Loup, Antibes, Nice, Eze, Monaco and more. Your choices really depend on your interests. It's not a lot of time considering you have 10 days, plus BCN and the surrounding area itself.
