I asked our hotel if there was demonstrations this weekend and they said yes. It will be taking place in front of our hotel and up and down the market area.
We are seasoned travelers and have been in areas of unrest throughout the years but never locating right where we know the protesting will be taking place.
We have been to this particular hotel four times now and we love the area. We are not overly concerned but I thought I would put it out there if anyone has anything to offer .

Who am I to argue with your hotel but this from the prefecture refers to street closings in the area due to the electric car race on Friday and Saturday

Actually I stayed in the École Militaire area two years ago on that weekend. Yes the car race does shut down the area significantly, but there will still be public bus and metro service. Have you ventured over to the Esplanade des Invalides to see the race cars, all electric powered?
Perhaps the desk clerk had fielded so many questions about the race that he misunderstood your question?
