Traveling to Chateau Chambord

I will be visiting Chateau Chambord for a day trip this summer. What are the easiest ways to get there from Paris? I will not be renting a car. Thank you!

PARISCityVISION runs a regular shuttle service departing from Paris http://www.pariscityvision.com/en/france/loire-valley-castles/chambord-castle. That is probably the easiest way. Other options revolve around taking a train to Blois. From the train station, you could take a taxi, a bus, or the Chateau shuttle that runs from March 31 to sometime in November. To find information on the buses, shuttles, and taxis, you can look at the "Getting to the Chateau" section of the Chateau's website.

Why Chambord? Just interested - is it somewhere else that RS sends evey American to?

Why Chambord?

Maybe because it's spectacular, and about the closest Loire Valley Chateaux from Paris.

Yes I went to Chambord after seeing the pictures of it in French language and culture class not because of RS.

Interesting. The reason I ask is that living in the area it is somewhere we visit to walk in the park, ride bicycles, or watch the wildlife. Looking at the outside is fine, but I have been inside twice and find it underwhelming because it's so empty. We sometimes use it as a driveby, but it's not somewhere that we (or anyone we know socially) take friends, because its just so ordinary once you get past the view from the end of the lake. (and - it's not a chateau - its an unfinished hunting lodge - until the 1860s no-one live there and it was virtually deralict. It shows...)

Chenonceau and Amboise are both far closer to Paris timewise if you're using public transport

One word of warning to the OP - chose your dates carefully - because it is big and empty space the French Government use it for international conferences. At some stage this year it will be closed to host a meeting with the Italian President

Simon, I agree that the outside of Chambord is the impressive part. I think I may have have been in it once; if so, it din't make much of an impression. But as a drive by or a quick stop, it's very impressive. Actually, I generally prefer to see chateaux from the outside, but my wife usually insists on visiting the inside. I usually go, but not always.

I have been wanting to see and visit Chambord for years, still have not gone there as yet,,,on the bucket list. What RS has to say about this famous site is totally irrelevant in my decision to see it.
