Hi,
I am looking to meet up with anyone who may be going to the April 23-May 5 tour...I have the roster, but they are first names only on it. If you want to private message me, see if we can ride share at any times, let me know-Val
Hi Val, welcome to the forum. You will love your tour. I was on it in September. Is Linda your guide? She is wonderful.
You won’t need ride share. From Paris you can take the train from Gare Montparnasse to Chartres. I took a taxi from my Paris hotel to the station. The tour hotel in Chartres is walking distance from the train.
Everywhere on the tour was walking distance. I took a taxi from the final tour hotel to Gare de Nice Ville to catch the train to Milan, ending my trip in Venice.
Bon Voyage!
PS. In Nice there is an interesting antique musical instrument collection at Musee de Palais Lascaris. Worth a visit during your free time.
You won’t need ride share.
I'm not sure that's a given anymore. If there's a train strike they may very well have to find another way to get to Chartres for the start of the tour. Just a precaution in case.
Thanks for the replies and words of encouragement! I'm really looking forward to the trip, and was hoping some of my fellow travel mates may want to figure out alternatives to trains, if needed. Or possibly going from the airport to Rue Cler area on April 22, would want to share a taxi, to decrease costs?
Sadly most tour participants don’t post on the forum. On my first tour (South of Italy) in 2019 I was lucky that two tour members were (are) active on the forum. Last year’s tour (South of France) no one was. No one else has posted about this year’s tour (Berlin, Prague & Vienna), June 4-15.
Val, the benefit of now participating on the site is that you can get any transportation or other questions answered prior to departure if no replies from others on your tour.
Enjoy your trip.
Hi Val. We’ll be a week behind you—arriving in Chartres on April 30. We just got our roster and it’s becoming more real. Hoping for no strike on the 30th and the 23rd for you.
It is exciting to get the final details, isn't it? In 3 weeks, I'll be touring the Eiffel tower at this time! I'm hoping there will be some settling of the protests/strikes by the time we are all there, but I am always planning a plan B! I did get a blabla car app on my phone, if I should need to ride share to Chartres from Paris, instead of the train
