traveling from Versaille to CDG in September

We're trying to find options to get from Versaille to CDG in September.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Are you coming from a hotel or the palace. You could take the RER C to St Michel/Notre Dame and change to the RER B to CDG. A taxi would run north of 75 EUR.

We're coming from the train station--turning in our car rental. We've been trying to find trains to the airport but it's hard to navigate.

How is it hard to navigate? Go to google maps, find Versailles; click Directions, put in CDG (the map will pick it up).

this is the critical part - under the two points you will see LEAVE NOW. You need to change that to DEPART AT, and use pretty much whenever you're travelling (well, at least the day of week and the time, and put whatever date is after the Olympics).

So let's say Tuesday, 27 August, you want to leave at 8 am. First result is the 805 RER C, changing to the RER B at St Michel/ND. It's a 1 hr, 20 minute trip.

Is there another train you're looking for?

We've seen the results on changing trains. Is that the only option? I was hoping to find a direct route but perhaps that isn't possible which is why I turned to this forum. We're trying to find the easiest way but a taxi/uber might be more than we want to spend. Are there buses that go directly to CDG? I guess I'm trying to be lazy--direct with no transfers. We'll transfer
if that's the best option.

The point is that there are 3 train stations in Versailles, Chantier, Rive Gauche (closest to the palace) and Rive Droite. So which is closest to your rental agency? There are no direct trains, The connection is trivial. Trains are running every 10 minutes or so, so if you miss one, you take the next one.

Thanks for the clarification, there would be no direct.

If you are trying to avoid PARIS, there is an indirect route with a change - RERC from Chantiers to Massey-Palaiseau, then you jump on the TGV Inoui to CDG. You'd need a TGV ticket for that 2nd leg. It's showing as a 1 hr, 26 minute trip.

Any reason why you don’t return the rental car at CDG?

We're not sure we want to navigate the traffic at the airport. We live just outside of Boston and getting around that airport isn't fun at all.

A bit at a tangent to your question, but where are you coming from and what time is your flight? Is it a US bound flight?

It might be important to address the entire puzzle and not just the Versailles to CDG part.

How many are traveling? A taxi may not be an unreasonable cost to not have to deal with CDG traffic or dragging bags to and between trains.

We're coming from Chartres and were originally planning on visiting Versailles then heading to our hotel at the airport for a flight to the US the following morning. We appreciate everyone's input and it has helped. Everyone here is friendly and helpful . Thanks to all of you.
