We are a small group traveling for one week mid-March ‘26. Our itinerary has our flight landing in Geneva, then FLIX busing to Annecy. Will we be subject to any restrictions/requirements when arriving in Switzerland, then France? We want to make certain all of our paperwork is in order. Our passports are current, and we do have ETIAS. Anything else necessary?
Thank you.
You do not need ETIAS yet. When you enter the Schengen area you will have to register for EES. If Geneva is your port of entry it will be in Geneva, if you however transfer somewhere else in Europe first it will be there. How are you flying??
From Geneva to Annecy however you do not need to worry about formalities.
Note that to get to Annecy you have other options than Flixbus. You can take bus 272, which is just a normal public transit bus, for which you do not need to reserve in advance, and you can take the train. Both options will appear on www.sbb.ch.
Flixbus has only one daily bus from the airport to Annecy. The train is hourly, and the bus is frequent as well.
Our passports are current, and we do have ETIAS.
how did you do that? It doesn't exist yet. Did you get drawn in by somebody promising you that they could get it for you - for a big price?
Welcome to the Forums
As noted, you will clear immigration in Geneva Airport, with the added burden of dealing
with ETIAS (whether you have already registered for it or not). Either you'll use the machines
or go through the regular non-automated line.
The bus will leave Switzerland on the outskirts of Geneva, and it will go through a kind of
maze where immigration officers will give it (and every other car) the evil eye, but most
likely nothing more than that.
the trip is in the next few weeks. No, you will have nothing to do with ETIAS. It does not exist.
You may have to deal with EES but there is nothing you can do to prepare for that.
You do not have ETIAS, you do not need ETIAS, you will not have to deal with ETIAS. Not for a trip later this month.
What you might have to do is register with EES if the Geneva Airport has it implemented. There is nothing to do ahead of time.
As of now, there are no border controls between France and Switzerland.
and we do have ETIAS
As already noted , that is impossible----https://travel-europe.europa.eu/etias
