Hello!
My husband and I are attending our friend's wedding next month (August 2019). The wedding is actually at a manor in Rosay, France, but we are told the closest town is Mantes la Jolie. From Mantes la Jolie, we would need to take a taxi to the wedding venue. Is anyone in this form familiar with France? I am looking for the best way to travel from Paris to Mantes la Jolie by public transportation. I have seen online that there may be a bus from the airport to the train station at Gare Saint Lazare. Then from that train station, there are trains that run to Mantes La Jolie.
I am unable to look up trains/book tickets on trains to and from Mantes la Jolie on the dates we would be traveling. We are starting to think it would make more sense to rent a car. Any thoughts or advice would be much appreciated.
Thank you,
Andrea
Mantes-la-Jolie has a rail station -- gare de Mantes-la-Jolie.
The difficulty you may be experiencing in finding trains might be explained by the fact that while Mantes-la-Jolie is a mainline railway station served by the SNCF, there are relatively few mainline trains that serve the station -- so if you're using Trainline or the SNCF website it will look like there's minimal service from Paris to Mantes-la-Jolie.
Instead, there's much more frequent service on line J of the Transilien, which is the Paris region's commuter rail system (similar to the RER in practice, though usually less frequent). If you look at the Saturday/Sunday/holiday timetable for this line, you'll see there's frequent service from Paris to Mantes-la-Jolie, roughly every 30 minutes or so during the daytime. The fact that's is a Transilien train also means you don't need to book in advance as the price will never change and this is a local train.
This is very helpful! Thank you for this information!
