Traveling and staying in Paris with young children

What is the best place to stay in Paris for young children, with access to a kitchen and within walking distance of major sights like Louvre and Notre Dam and Louvre to avoid Metro stairs. Hotel or air b and b?

Guest Apartment Services has apartments close to both Notre Dame and the Louvre. You must book months in advance. I haven't stayed there, yet, but have reservations for nine nights in September. It gets great reviews here and elsewhere. There's also a washing machine. With young kids, I would avoid hotels because of the potential noise factor made by them and there's just more room in an apartment.

Kathleen, based on your other post it might be good to mention that your children are babies: aged 2 months and 15 months. "Young children" could mean approx. ages 3-6 so that they are both infants may make a difference, such as preference for an apartment on ground floor, no stairs, and maybe needing two cribs?

By "avoiding petrol stairs" I'll assume you mean the Metro (subway system)? Paris is nicely walkable - we did the vast majority on foot - but with two infants, you're likely to want to use some sort of transport to cover greater distances than between the Louvre and Notre-Dame.

Mine stayed at home until age 11. Then she visited many countries in Europe. And my parents enjoyed keeping her 2 weeks out of the year.

Kathleen, do you need a full kitchen or just a fridge? Many hotels have a small fridge.

Busses are an excellent way to travel around Paris without stairs. Will you have a stroller or 2? Most busses are stroller friendly with a designated space for the stroller.
