Travelers Contact Form - SSN really required?

Hello, I am going to France from the US on May 2nd. I had read that there is a contact form that I am required to fill out before I leave. Here is the website: https://passager.serveureos.org/
The form is asking me to input my SSN. Why do they need that? I don't feel comfortable giving that out since not sure how secure their site is, who will have access to it, etc.
Is this form really required? I had heard from someone else that the airlines hand out a contact form when boarding the plane to fill out. Would that suffice instead of this website or are we required to do both?
Would appreciate input. Thank you!

Read it where?

Your query is the first I have seen that a contact/locator form wanted an SSN, rather than a passport number.

Different airlines likely have different procedure/processes. If you advise what airline someone probably has an answer on what they experienced

I found it on a travel blog somewhere; I don't recall exactly where. I just saw that my airline (Delta) is requiring me to complete the EU PLF form so that should suffice for my contact info instead. I am not going to complete that other form. I think it might be outdated and I don't trust it even though it appears to be a gov't site. Thanks.

I would be suspicious of any link on a forum...including the one I will give you.

Your airline should be giving you a link to the correct form, but for the site you linked...two big flags, first, it has a .org domain, as opposed to a government or eu domain. The second, as you alluded to, Why would the french government want your SSN?

You should get something from an authorized source. I use the IATA website to get travel requirements https://www.iatatravelcentre.com/world.php it is the database most airlines use to determine document requirements. If you click on France, within the requirements you will find this link:
https://app.euplf.eu/#/ from the EU, with a further link to the French form. This is the same site I used for Italy, and many others on here have used it.

Another route is to go to an official French Government website, like, https://www.diplomatie.gouv.fr/en/coming-to-france/coming-to-france-your-covid-19-questions-answered/ It also has a link to the EU PLF, the same site I linked above. The site also has answers to a number of questions you might have.

Thanks Paul for your input. The 2nd link you indicated is the same link my airline (Delta) sent me to so I am using that one. I have already ditched that other link. Thanks again. I think I'm all set now. Have a great night everyone! Happy travels.

I filled this thing out to enter France through my airline web site. I just ignored the SSN line. I am not handing that out except in settings where it is required by my government. The French government has my passport information; they have no legitimate need for my SSN. I assume it is parallel to some European ID that everyone routinely presents. (like when you get medical care here you give them a government number -- tourists can't do that of course). The form was complete and accepted without the SSN.

We also are flying Delta in May. I was unable to upload my vaccination card, (my husband's worked), and I started to fill out that other form, but it didn't like my answers. I called Delta, they said not to worry, you have to show the cards in person, and they have forms at the airport you have to fill out anyway. The forms online are just to speed the process up if you wish. I read somewhere on here that someone filled out the form and the person it was given to had no idea what it was. They had to fill out Delta forms anyway.

We uploaded our CDC cards, my granddaughter's vax record from the pediatrician and filled out the locator form on line and never had to show anything ever again. Those who had not filled in locator forms on line had to fill them out on the plane. Perhaps Delta is not as well organized. By having all this filled out and uploaded we were able to use a shorter check in line at the airport.
