Will be spending about 12 days touring the WWII landing sites....hoping to visit Giverney as well as Brugges . We will be using the train system. Need info on the best WW II tours, reasonable hotels or B & B's in the areas... This will be in Sept. '15. Buying train passes good sense or point to point? Starting point will probably be Amsterdam. This in no way answers any of your questions, but if you are starting your WWII journey in Amsterdam I would also highly recommend going to the Dutch Resistance Museum there. http://www.verzetsmuseum.org/museum/en/museum

Pam: thanks for your response....We have already been to the Resistance Museum in Amsterdam...however, thanks for your nice suggestion....any other thoughts for our trip?

For the train rides implied above, a Benelux-France pass would not save money. The longer, faster legs, such as Bruges-Paris, have good discounts available for purchase about 90 days ahead. I would fly home from Paris, instead of returning to Amsterdam. Rick's France guidebook has his advice for Normandy sightseeing and hotels. Normandy tour companies have been fairly often discussed in this France forum, too.
