Good day,
My son had heard that if your passport was issued less then 6 months ago, you would not be allowed to enter France. Is there any truth to this as we are late in planning a trip which was to include France, for the end of May and he just applied for his passport. Any clarification on this matter would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance,
Stephanie
I really don't have any idea, but I have heard people say that if your passport is expiring within the next 6 months then you need to get a new one before you travel.
Actually I believe the State Department is saying that your Passport must be valid for 6 months from the entry into France or other EU countries: "A current U.S. passport with a minimum validity of six months or more from the date of entry is required to enter most European Union countries, including France.
Yeah, he got it backwards - or whoever told him did. Not to worry, passports, unlike the cheese and wine awaiting you, do not require aging.
