travel to Charles De Gaulle with 5 people (some kids) and luggage RER or find a cab?

Most cabs won't fit us since we are five people. Maybe there is a reliable app that we can use to order a larger cab at the time we need on the day?

Or should we try taking the RER in the morning (Not sure how much $$ we would save if those tickets are around 10 euros to the airport)?

We will be going on a Wednesday morning from the middle of the city-- we are NOT that close to the B RER line so hoping to minimize have to drag bags/kids through Metro tunnels/streets...

Does anyone have thoughts to help us? THANK YOU!

I’d suggest asking your hotel to arrange a taxi large enough (a van) for you and your family.

What time is your flight?

Make sure you arrive to the airport at least three hours prior to your flight’s departure.

Yes, it will definitely be more economical (not to mention easier) to take a cab.

Use the G7 taxi app or English-speaking G7 line to reserve a taxi.

If your hotel is on the left bank, it's a 55 euro flat fee for four people, plus 7 euros to reserve the taxi in advance, plus 4 euros for the fifth person. (so 66 euros total -- as you noted yourself, 10.30 euros times 5 is already 51.50, and the 15 extra euros -- 3 euros per person !! - is DEFINITELY worth avoiding lugging everything around the metro and RER!!).

If your hotel is on the right bank, it's 50 euros plus 7 plus 4.

I would take an Uber and ask for a van. :-) That's how our family of four got to CDG for an early morning flight from the 6th Arr. It was very easy, same app as the US one, and convenient!

Just to give an update...

We called G7 and had a great cab... though there some slight confusion on the morning it was supposed to come get us in spite of a confirmation call (from me to them) the night before.

But it all worked out great and was super easy-- thanks so much for all the recommendations and so glad to know about G7!

I am glad it worked out for you; reserving a G7 cab. That said, I think it was unnecessary. The regular taxi line at CDG has larger taxis available. As you approach the head of the line signal the dispatcher by holding up five fingers so he can match you with one of the larger taxis. There will be, I believe, a €4 charge for the fifth passenger. The problem of pre-ordering a cab, even with a company as reliable as G7, is that there is often the confusion in trying to connect with the reserved cab, which you experienced.

BTW, how much extra did it cost to make the reservation with G&?

Hi there nukesafe--

Thanks for your reply to my update.

However, we were leaving Paris from the center of the city and going to CDG. As i am sure you know, it is very difficult to find a large cab for 5 with luggage in the city.

Thanks for your input, though, and good to know that you can get a large cab from CDG (hopefully we will be back soon).

Of course you were right to reserve the G7 cab going to CDG, Mary. I misread your question and assumed you were going the other way. We have used the same method numerous times, particularly if we have an early flight. G7 have never left us down. The always arrive about five minutes before the scheduled departure and, as we always try to be a little early, we laugh as we walk out the door and into the taxi just as it pulls up.

G7 won't even make a reservation from CDG to Paris unless there is a special situation like need for car seats and thus a special van they have so equipped. I know because they once misunderstood my request and told me that -- I then clarified I was going from Paris TO the airport not the other way round.

Use a cab and I highly recommend that you have your hotel arrange it for you and you double check that it has been ordered in advance of departure day. We tried to use the app to order a cab the night before and the morning of, but they were all booked the morning we wanted to leave. We were in the same pickle with kids and luggage and a bit of a walk to the train station, so we waited outside in the rain for a cab to pick us up--a soggy end to a great trip :)
