What is the most reliable way to get to CDG from Bastille area in Paris for an early morning flight?

Metro/RER transportation can get you there by 6:30, before that there are night buses, but maybe a taxi would be in order.

I left Paris on a 6:30 am flight and thus had to be at CDG around 4:30 a.m. and a taxi was the only option I'd consider--checked out of my hotel in the 6th arr at 4 and the ride took maybe 20 minutes as there's not many vehicles out and about at that time.

Book with G7 Taxis the day before you leave. You can call them - dispatchers speak English - or use their website. The flat fees apply, so you'll pay 55 EU plus a 7 EU reservation fee, for up to 4 passengers and luggage. The dispatcher will send an SMS with the make and color of taxi which will pick you up. Be waiting on the sidewalk about 5 mins before pickup time.
If you're leaving before 7 AM, the trip will take about 20 - 30 minutes.

The RS guidebook recommends Paris Webservice car service. We used them to get from CDG to our hotel and they were excellent. (We didn't return to the USA from France, so didn't use them in the other direction.)

UPDATE....we tried to get a shuttle service but had some challenges. So we walked into one of the hotels listed in Rick's France Guidebook, with our guidebook in hand, and they made a shuttle arrangement for us. When they saw the guidebook they were very helpful.

Are you saying you didn't stay in a hotel but still went in and asked them to reserve a shuttle for you??

If so, that was VERY nice of them.

Jim,
Wow! That was very nice of that hotel staff to help you out! Just curious...What's the name of the hotel?

Make sure you arrive at the airport at least 3 hours before your flight, & have a safe flight home!

Many hotels accept kickbacks from booking shuttle or taxi services, no matter if the request originates from their clients or not. It's just business.

The last hotel I stayed at in Paris encouraged a shuttle. The flier said 18 euro so I initially thought why not. The small print was 27 euro for one person - so I went with metro to RER. It's faster and cheaper, ten euro about 45 minutes, than driving. The only downside is if you have a lot of bags. I only had a day pack for this trip so public transport was easy.
