Travel time from CDG to Ecole Militaire

Hello,

Our flight arrives at CDG at 08:30 local time on a Monday. We will be taking the Roissy Bus to Opera Garner, then Metro to Ecole Militaire stop near our hotel. Including the time it takes to retrieve luggage at CDG, make a stop at the airport TI for museum pass and metro tickets, what's a reasonable time to expect to arrive at our hotel?

Matt,

Travel time via RER and Metro is about 45 minutes. Add to that the time to get through Passport control, collect your luggage and buy your Museum Pass. I don't know the travel time of the Roissy Bus, but it likely won't be as fast as Metro / RER if traffic is thick.

I think Swan's guesstimate is probably pretty good - you might make it as early as 11 a.m. if you hit everything just right and really know what you're doing, and traffic isn't a problem, but I wouldn't count on it. Similarly, your flight arriving late, huge lines at immigration, or horrible traffic on the A1 and peripherique might make it take longer.

Roissy Bus to Opera Garner is at least an hour considering traffic. I hope you're traveling light! i love the Paris Metro but I have always had only a 22" carry on plus tote. Metro connections are quick, but this depends on how adept you are at maneuvering this multiple steps and corridors within. Roissy Bus pick up is just opposite the baggage claim area. Not sure about the Museum pass, we retrieved at a TI in the city. I think you should be at your hotel by noon at the latest.

Why do you want to know this? To make reservations?? I have found it better not to plan anything on the first day that has a rigid time schedule -- you don't know how you will feel after THIS flight on THIS day. Have a general plan, sure -- but leave wiggle room for chance and changes.

I will say that the RoissyBus is much more comfortable and provides better scenery than the RER, for roughly the same price.

Matt, are you trying to be somewhere at a certain time, or just merely curious about when you might be able to check-in to your hotel?

Yes - just trying to get a sense of when we'll get to the hotel.

We did everything you are planning on doing in June of this year and it took us around 2 or 2 1/2 hours to get to our hotel at Rue Cler.

Are you up for lots of stairs and walking with luggage and jet lag? I did all this in early July, and getting from CDG to Gare St. Lazare took longer than expected. The line to buy RER tickets into Paris at CDG was long and SLOW. (Our cc didn't work in the machines.) Also, factor in figuring out where the Metro is at Gare du Nord ( huge station, and can be a long walk), and which direction you need to go. As long as you aren't in a rush and aren't too tired, you'll get to your hotel by 1:00.

Matt:

My wife & I will be flying into CDG in September, and are also planning on taking the Roissy Bus to the Opera. We're also staying in the Rue Cler area. We're not sure whether to take the Metro or a taxi, since hauling our luggage via the Metro may be a problem.
