I would like to know a travel route between Carcassonne and Collioure that includes the most scenic sights, the Gorges of Galamus, Perpeytuse, and other Cather Castles.
Also good lodging in this area.
Thank you
From Carcassonne:
D118 → Limoux

Limoux is where a well-known sparkling wine "La blanquette de Limoux" is produced.

The driver will be allowed one drink, no more. LOL
Then, still D118 → Quillan

After Quillan: D117 → Puilaurens Castle
It is one of the many Cather fortresses in the region.

You can climb up to the castle, I must warn you that it is a sloping path with stones.
After Puilaurens you can go through the Gorges of Galamus or go directly to ille-sur-Têt to see the Orgues of Ille-sur-Têt.

To go to the gorges you will have to go through Bugarach. The road can be quite narrow on some sections. On the way to Bugarach you will pass by the Cascade des Mathieux

Then: N116 → Perpignan.
Perpignan railway station was declared the center of the universe by Salvador Dali.
D914 → Collioure.
In Collioure I will not recommend you a hotel, but to eat anchovies. It's the local specialty.
In Collioure we stayed at Casa Pairal. Very nice.
