We did a Locaboat cruise in southwestern France (Garonne, Baise River) in May 2013, our first experience with that type of boat. The weather was unseasonably cool and rainy, but the four of us enjoyed it immensely, even when drenched. The heater on the boat was very efficient, and we used it just to warm up in the early morning. When there was sun it was quite pleasant.

We have cruised the Nivernais in early June, and weather was glorious. A light cotton sweater was usually all that was required. We're doing Locaboat on the Nivernais next week, as a matter of fact.
Flooding doesn't generally affect the canals as they are regulated. We have had to cancel boating plans that involved rivers, due to flooding (the Lot River, to be specific, 2 years ago - Locaboat redirected us to another area and even upgraded our boat).
