I will be in Villafranche-Sur-mer as a home base for a month while traveling throughout the area on public transportation.
I don’t mean to appear slow but can someone please tell me if I have this correct:
Given I have an iphone and not an android I need to:
1) purchase the 2 euro tLe Carte card physically (not on phone)
2) load it on the Lignes d’Azur app so I can add fare credit for trains and buses.
3) I cannot purchase the 14 day sud explorer pass on my phone. It has to be through a machine and then loaded on the physical travel card or on to my phone?
Correct?
Can I purchase the travel card at the Nice/St Augustin or Villafranche station machine or do I need to go to a ticket outlet (ie Ville Nice station).
Merci
Renee, the only thing I know for sure is that you can buy the physical 14 day pass from a vending machine at the tram stop that is right outside the Nice airport. I bought a 7 day pass there a few weeks ago. My understanding was, like you said, that you cannot purchase it online, but I never tried or confirmed that while in France. If you have the 14 day pass, then you won't need to add fare credit for anything. I don't know if or how you can add credit for after the 14 days, if that is what you are asking.
From what I can see online, it looks like the vending machines are only at Nice tram stops and that there don't appear to be Zou angency offices that sell the pass at the Nice-St. Augustin station or anywhere in Villefranche. However, there is one (a Zoucounter not a machine) at the Nice-Ville station if that is of any help.
