Travel from Strasbourg to Colmar

We will be spending a couple of nights in Strasbourg next month and want to go to Colmar during the day. How difficult is it to get trains to and from Colmar? Thanks!

There are 2-3 trains an hour and the trip is 30 minutes. In other words, very simple.

not at all difficult, as noted above. Main station to main station, really easy and you can decide on the spur of the moment which train you will catch.

I'll only add that tickets are inexpensive and plentiful. Also, secure your belongings in the train stations. Even in smaller stations, pickpockets abound. You may even hear an announcement that known thieves are in the building.

We took the train from Strasbourg to Colmar for the day a few months ago. We bought the regional train tickets round trip at the Strasbourg train station. Be aware that the end destination might not say Colmar. Ours said Basel but stopped in Colmar on the way. We enjoyed both Strasbourg and Colmar!

I was in Strasbourg earlier this week and waited until evening to go to Colmar because a friend who stayed there a few months ago told me it’s much nicer in the evening after the day trippers are gone. I just wandered the town for a few hours, then caught a train back.

I agree with the evening information. I stayed in Colmar for a few days. During the day it was crowded. But at night....

I remember having dinner in the Little Venice area then walking back to my hotel which was a ten minute walk through the older part of town. The only one I ran into was my shadow.

Enjoy beautiful Strasburg. We much preferred it to Colmar.
