We are staying at the Queen Mary Hotel in Paris and I am wondering how to get on to the RER Line C to go to Versailles. My last trip to Paris, we walked from A different hotel near the Eiffel Tower.

although google maps is not great for transport in general, it is perfectly adequate to map out a walk from your hotel to the RER -- or you could ask the hotel clerk. If C is shut down in central Paris, you may need to take the metro to the west to connect with it there. e.g. maybe Javel.
The. https://www.ratp.fr app will also give you the route you need including the walk to get there on both ends.
