We are looking for recommendations on how to get to Chateau de Pierrefonds from Paris (Le Marais). There are no direct trains. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Train to Compiegne (45 minutes) followed by a 20-minute bus ride (Bus 27) or a taxi. The train from Paris leaves from Gare du Nord. Schedule and fares are at https://www.sncf.com/en You will need to check the bus schedule because it may not run every day. https://www.oise-mobilite.fr/fr/horaires-de-ligne/6/RouteSchedules/palesnes-compiegne/1438/compiegne/1?PartnerId=14
There are so many chateaux easily reachable without a car, that I'd just bag this one if you don't have a car.
Be sure to leave some time to visit Compiègne either on the way to or on the way from Pierrefonds, the palace and surroundings are very interesting. The drab train station area gives a very wrong first impression.
A year ago I have visited Compiègne and the palace there and I think too interesting and if possible worth to combine with your visit to Pierrefonds.
