Travel from Paris to Bayeux with a Giverny stop

I need help, please....my brain has got the dumb.
We will be traveling by train from Paris to Bayeux in May to visit the D-Day areas. On our way to Bayeux, we would like to get off the train and visit Vernon/Giverny for a couple of hours. With the ticket we purchase from Paris to Bayeux, will it allow us to do that, or must we purchase Paris to Vernon, THEN Vernon to Bayeux. It will be all in the same day.
Thank you for your help.

You need two tickets. You validate the ticket at the start of the trip and it is time limited.

You could buy a nonrefundable ticket from Vernon to Bayeux to save a bit of money. Just don't miss it.

Thank you for your responses. I think I was getting train travel in Germany mixed up with France. We used the trains in Germany (Bayern area)last May, and could basically hop on, hop off....all during one day using the same ticket.
