Has anyone taken the bus from Nice airport to Nice Ville train station and how long does it take? I'm trying to calculate which train to take from Nice to Cassis.

Bus takes 45-50 minutes dependent on which one you take. A taxi around 15 min.

You actually can walk or take a shorter taxi ride to Nice St-Augustin the stop after Nice Ville from the airport It is close by
You can it is possible dependingon the time book to catch a train to Cassis from there

The St-Augustin station is close to the airport, and you can walk to it but it is best that you carefully study the walking route map on the airport website first. You will be crossing a main road (with signals), walking a bit down that very busy road, and it is (if I remember correctly) steps up into the station. Only the milk-runniest trains stop there but they do come fairly frequently, every 30 minutes to an hour or so, depending on the time of day. I don't remember a ticket office on St-Augustin.
The dedicated bus from the airport to the main Nice station, Nice-Ville, is easy and not expensive.

Just an FYI the Nice St Augustine station has a ticket office and 24 hour ticket machine where you can buy train tickets
