In August we'll fly into CDG arriving at 9:20 AM. We need to get to our hotel at 26 Rue D'Amsterdam, 9th arr.
It looks to me that we take the RER to Gare du Nord & then take the RER Line E to Magenta for 1 stop to Gare Saint-Lazare.
I have been searching maps & our hotel seems to be near by.
We will each be pulling suitcases. I assume these are trains, not tubes/subways, with access by elevators NOT stairs??
Thank you.
Joyce
I would take the Roissy bus and walk 10 minutes to the hotel from Rue Scribe. If you go on Rue Scribe towards Rue Mathurins, you walk up to the traffic circle and walk to the left until you get to Blvd Hausmann and make a left and follow Haussman to Au Printemps and turn right on Rue du Havre (which may still be called Rue Auber right there) which will turn into Rue d'Amsterdam. If you go the other way on Scribe and see Rue Auber, no worries, just turn right on Auber and follower it to where it crosses Haussman at Au Printemps and turns into Rue du Havre. I don't think that you do any less walking all in by taking the RER combination, though it will probably be an overall faster trip because the trains are not subject to surface traffic.
Yes the Roissybus for rue d'Amsterdam. Much easier.
Thank you.
Walking is fine it's the stairs with luggage! They say there is a train. 10+ years ago I took a train from Gatwick to St Albans at 7 AM or so they were trains but they were commuter trains - I had my large suitcase & I think 20 people killed me with their eyes! I could hardly blame them but it was hell for me! I had to keep going as someone was meeting me at St Albans & cells phones were NOT an option!
Thank you!
Does this bus have provisions for luggage??
The Roissybus is operated by normal city-style buses without luggage compartments, but it is a non-stop airport service so your luggage won't upset commuters.
Do the trains from CDG to Paris have provisions for luggage?? There is a great train from Gatwick to Victoria. Is the train in Paris similar?
Our suitcases would take up the legroom on the Roissy of a person. It does seem hard to believe that a bus from the airport has no provision for suitcases.
Also, does this bus stop many times before it gets to the Paris-Opera?
Their site does not give these details.
The 10 minute walk in the city is no problem.
Thanks again
Joyce
No, the RER doesn't have places for luggage.
I think the Roissybus does, but never enough room. I don't quite remember because 2014 was the last time I took it. I remember balancing a bag on my lap a few times. It's a double long bus, non-stop into Paris, geared to travelers. Airport employees take the 350 bus and that does have stops.
The Roissybus is the most convenient for your destination.
Because your luggage seems to be a concern for you, I.e., for stairs, for room on the bus, etc., maybe you should just bite the bullet and take a taxi into the city.
Agree with Norma.
jan,
The RER doesn't have any place for luggage, but you can keep that at your seat (which is probably a good idea so that it doesn't "disappear"). One advantage of using RER is that it's not affected by traffic. The Buses are large but typically only have room for carry-on size luggage at the seats. Larger items must be placed in the hold under the Bus.
You could use a "combination approach" with RER "B" to Gare du Nord and then Taxi direct to your hotel. That shouldn't be too costly.
FYI, the Air France buses have holds underneath but the Roissybus has shelves inside the bus.
