Travel by train from CDG to Dijon

We are arriving at CDG on 9/27/2024 at around 8:30 am, and need to get to Dijon. We see that trains are getting full. Should we buy a ticket now? Other option is to rent a car and have friends return it to CDG in a couple days.
We will have our barge on the Petite Saone River and /or the Canal du Rhone au Rhin. Any advice on "must see" places?

I would not rent a car. If you will have jet lag, that is IMO a bad idea. DIjon, in my experience is too far away for a jet lag affected drive. On our first drive from CDG to just south of Dijon, my husband dozed off and the rest of us were asleep and I woke up to the car drifting off the road. We were all fine but lesson learned. We have. driven between just south of Dijon and CDG a few times and every time there was some sort of significant delay on A6. I could have bad luck but after the fourth time, my husband finally agreed to try the train and after the first train trip, his response was to ask why he insisted on driving before. Trains can sell out and at this point you are only seven days away from travel so I suggest going ahead and buying a train ticket for a train leaving CDG at 11:30 AM or later or from Gare de Lyon at 12:30 PM or later.

Thank you for this advice; good point about how jet lag really impairs driving ability. We bought our tickets last night.
