One thing you may want to check out before deciding on a car...rental starting in one
country and dropping off in another may incur large fees. You will be ahead ditching
the first car in Nice, crossing the border and picking up another car.
How many hours are you wanting to drive in a day? Will these be overnight stops or
2-3 days.
If you are planning to stop in the Cinque Terre, take the train there. Pick up your
rental as you're leaving in La Spezia.
