We are traveling Paris arriving Saturday, April 15. Is the trash gathering up again in the streets? Is it all over Paris? And are the monuments and sites still closed such as the Eiffel tower, Arc de Triomphe, the Louvre?
We also arrive in Paris on Saturday. Don’t panic, it’s a big city and I figure we will listento the news each morning to hear what is going on (or ask at the front desk) to avoid tjose areas.
The official Louvre website shows they are open today.
The official Eiffel Tower website says they are open today. This literally just changed in the last 2 minutes from showing the strike information from yesterday to open today. There are no closures listed. It’s early here but obviously their web content person starts work at 5A!!!

Any closures are on the day of a general strike and do not usually carry over.
Garbage has been being picked up.
Most trains are running. I’m traveling from Amsterdam to Paris today and only one train out of Amsterdam is canceled today. All else are running.
Strikes are very transient in Paris. Travel well!
Thank you ! Please share updates or any relevant occurrences! I appreciate the input! CD
I arrived in Paris and am currently lying on my bed looking out the window at the Eiffel Tower, killing time until restaurants start serving dinner at 7. There was a lot of traffic back up in the taxi between the Gare du Nord and my hotel BUT it looked like “normal traffic” and not due to a social movement. I saw absolutely no garbage on the sidewalks but I did not expect to see any.
It is chilly and rainy this afternoon - in the upper 40’s at 5:30. The puffy vest felt pretty good and I’ll wear it to dinner. Looks like it should warm up to the 60’s by Sunday.
Hope you have a smooth and wonderful flight. Paris is waiting!
We left Paris on Sunday and never saw any trash piled up. Our place was in the 11th, but traveling around the city we didn't see anything.
There were closures of some museums and monuments but only on the official strike days (we were there on the 6th).
The only issue we had with transportation the entire time was completely jam packed trains on the 5th at 11pm. Still not sure what was going on, we finally gave up after 4 trains with no room and went back upstairs to find cabs.
We are here now - I have seen very minimal trash anywhere. I wouldn’t have even thought about it except I knew there was a strike so I was looking to see if there were piles. Yesterday (a day of a planned strike) the only thing I saw that was closed was the Eiffel Tower. We had a great day yesterday, we didn’t feel any impact from the protest, in fact even the person working at our hotel didn’t know where the march route was (I had found it after searching around online).
Great to hear! Thanks!
I had to laugh a little bit ago. I was eating dinner and had been placed by the window so I got a birds eye view of the garbage truck moving thru! If we could add pictures to this forum I’d have taken a video for you!!
