We are arriving the day before our tour begins in Paris. Has anyone experienced taking a taxi or public transportation from CDG airport to the first hotel in Montmartre? Also, any suggestions for casual restaurants? Thank you!

Oh yes, I always take a taxi to my hotel from CDG.
Go directly to the taxi rank. Do NOT go with anyone who comes up to you and asks if you are going to Paris and need a taxi. Follow the big blue circles on the floor or the overhead signs for taxis. Get in line. Have your hotel address written out on a 3x5 index card with a notation out to the side saying Flat Rate 56E (which is the rate to any location on the Right Bank, which Montmartre is).

No need to tip the driver.
I usually hold up my phone and ask "Apple Pay OK?" BEFORE I get in as the driver is putting my bag in the back. IF you are using a CC, hold up the CC and ask OK. They are all supposed to take CCs but sometimes will tell you their machine is broken which is a lie.
What's the name of your tour hotel? People may be able to give you restaurant ideas if we know the location. Rick uses lots of different hotels so those of us who have been on his tours may have stayed at a different place than where you are staying.

Thank you for the great advice. Have you ever used G7 to book a taxi in advance? We are a group of 4 adults with luggage. Will a taxi at the stand at the airport take all four of us (56E) in one vehicle or do we need to get two cabs?

I do have the G7 app and use it to book a cab BACK to the airport.
At the head of the taxi line there is a line manager. You indicate to them you have 4 people either by holding up 4 fingers (if your hand can do it use your thumb and 3 fingers...my hand has difficulty with this as my pinkie does not want to stay down on it's own, lol) or saying "4 people, please". They may motion you to step to the side of the line and they will then call up a larger taxi for you. There is a holding area away from the pick up zone that has probably a hundred vehicles waiting at a time and there are always larger cabs/vans, etc. Do not worry about this. They deal with this all the time. You will not need to take 2 cabs. The Fixed Rate is good for up to 4 people so it will still be 56E for you to go to Montmartre.
