We are looking for transportation advice for 6 adults from CDG into Paris, Latin Quarter. We all travel light, and will not have large suitcases.
Just follow the red footsteps on the floor from baggage claim to the taxi line. Do not go with anyone who asks, on the way, if you want a taxi. These are not licensed taxis and will take you for an expensive ride.
There are maxi-taxis which can hold up to 7 people and the dispatcher will call one for you if one isn't already there.
The fare will be a flat €65 plus about €5 each for the 5th and 6th passenger. A tip is not expected.
I'm not sure that the footsteps are red but the general idea of following the footsteps with word taxi in them is spot on. . I'm pretty sure that the ones in the Terminal where I landed on Thursday were blue. Also, you can click on https://www.parisaeroport.fr/en/passengers/transport-parking/taxi/cdgand scroll down to "Where are the taxi ranks at Paris-CDG Airport?" and see exactly where the official taxi stands are for your arrival terminal. Fare to the Left Bank is 65€ for the first four passengers in a single taxi plus an additional 5.5€ per passenger for the fifth and sixth passengers. Theoretically taxis are available that can hold six -- I've done it myself but you really will have to have packed light. When we did it, one of our six was not adult sized and we each had a backpack and a personal item.
The official taxi line moves quickly. The people in front of us had a large party. The dispatcher asked them to stand aside for a few minutes while he called for a van; all the while keeping the entire line moving quickly. Yes follow the signs/blue footprints to the official line and ignore anyone else along the way to the line who asks if you'd like a ride.
The official line is a well oiled efficient machine.
If you are spending a while in Paris and will have chosen Navigo Decouverte weekly passes then those would cover this trip and you might want to take the train -- but generally with a large group the taxi is most cost effective and convenient
If you are buyingi ndividual train tickets it will cost your group 78 Euro; A taxi to your location would be 76 including the 5.50 upcharge for passengers 5 and 6.
when we flew into Orly last fall and had to get to Batignolles we got a monthly ND pass at Orly which covered the trip on a metro that is accessible (14, one of the rare completely accessible lines). Taking the train that one trip paid for about a third of our monthly transport pass cost.
Okay, I'm just going to take everyone's word that the footsteps are red. When I arrive at CDG, I'm generally cross-eyed with fatigue, so they may indeed look red to me :)
they are not red -- they are either black or dark blue or green -- but the key here is go to the official queue which is well signed and do not take advice from anyone who approaches you with 'do you need a taxi' or 'do you speak English' or 'that line is for the suburbs -- for Paris come over here.' Ignore them all -- the taxi queue will be totally obvious, Our last two arrivals we had no line at all by the time we made our way up to the dispatcher we were next.
There are large blue circles on the floor, directing you to the official taxi stands. There are also signs and a lot of information posted at baggage claim about taking official taxis.
