Transportation help from Bayeux to Omaha Beach/pointe du hoc

Hi! My name is Haylee. My husband and I are taking the train into Bayeux for a night in October (in our 30’s backpacking Europe). We are planning on staying in a chateau near pointe du hoc so we can walk to it in the early morning before hopefully taking a taxi or Uber to Omaha beach, then to the town center.

How feasible is this? There is not much information in regards to transport other than car rental in Bayeux. Uber app allows for reserving a car for transport in Bayeux, but I’m not sure how true that is.

Our chateau owner states we must taxi or rental car. It is difficult to find a taxi service online to contact that doesn’t seem like a scam.

Thank you for any and all help/suggestions.

Transportation plans in the Normandy region really need to include a car—if not your own, then someone you hire. What "town center" are you referring to? It is a very rural area. I couldn't find many/any chateaus in walking distance to Point du Hoc (Château St Pierre Beck B&B perhaps? 20-minutes away?), and most sites are well spread out with minimal or no pubic transportation. This is not Paris, or even a smaller city like Caen or Bayeux, from which I would still recommend a car. Even Omaha Beach and Utah Beach are a 45-minute drive apart with no public transportation between them, and they aren't the farthest places between which to travel related to D-day.

Hi thank you all for your responses! We have received quotes from Bessin Location taxi service and think this is the best option for us. Yes, that is the Chateau we are planning to stay with. My husband is a marine and is looking forward to walking the old dirt roads to pointe du hoc in the early morning.

Thank you again!
