Transportation Gar du Nord to Rue Cler area taxi or metro

How much for a taxi of 4 with luggage?

How is the metro ride with luggage on a Sunday evening?

ces,

I don't know what a Taxi would cost, but you'll probably need a larger vehicle (mini van?) for a group of four with luggage.

I'd have no hesitation in using the Metro on a Sunday evening or any other evening. If you have a lot of luggage, you'll have to be quick through the fare gates, but they usually have a separate gate for those with oversized bags. The trip from Gare du Nord to Rue Cler is fairly straightforward. The route I'd probably use.....

  • Gare du Nord to Strasbourg-Saint Dennis via Metro Line 4 (direction Mairie de Montrouge - 3 stops).
  • Strasbourg-Saint Dennis to Ecole Militaire via Metro Line 8 (direction Balard - 9 stops).

That trip should ideally be about 35 minutes, but maybe a bit quicker on a Sunday evening.

You will have no trouble getting a taxi large enough for your group at the Gare du Nord official taxi rank. For four people with luggage, I wouldn't consider any other approach. Taxi should be roughly 15 Euro plus 3 Euro for the 4th passenger and a Euro each for bags in the trunk. Of course it will depend on traffic.

You will get better advice on possible metro travel if you note your metro stop.

Quibbling clarification:

but maybe a bit quicker on a Sunday evening
Actually, the frequency decreases during non-peak hours, so it might be just an insignificant tad longer than a generalized answer (or quicker if only fully packed trains were encountered during the day), The trains pretty well hit their scheduled time marks for station arrivals and departures.

You will have no trouble getting a taxi
Unless the taxi rank is flat empty, which happens not infrequently.

Rue Cler is three blocks long. Ecole Militaire is the most proximate station to any part of the street.

Taxi should be roughly .......
I'd be afraid to guess it with that much precision. It could be less if traffic is much lighter than usual. It could be higher since you're into the Sunday/evening fare structure.

As a single traveler with a carry-on-sized bag, I tend to take the metro. But for 4 people with luggage, taxi is certainly first choice and Janet's fare estimate sounds right on.
