We will be arriving at the CDG airport and need to connect at the ORLY airport. I have looked at the airfrance buses, but am hoping someone can provide detailed information regarding a less expensive alternative like a city bus or metro. We have approximately 5 hours from landing at CDG to departing at ORLY.

Google "CDG to Orly" for the alternatives. RER looks good.
It is not much cheaper by RER since you come from well outside the city into Paris and then have to connect with the Orlyval. I'd take the Cars France bus and for just a few more Euro have an easy shot without transfers and hauling luggage in the train system.
I'd fire my travel agent.
i agree with Janet. For the few euros saved, the public transportation options are not worth the decided increase in hassle over the safe, secure, comfortable AirFrance buses.
I also agree with Janet. If you took RER B to Denfert Rochereau and changed to the Orly Bus, you would save around 2 euros per person -- hardly worth the effort. It will not be cheaper to take the RER B to Antony and change there for the Orlyval.
